Wild A/B Test Result

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it’s Max with The Inbox Newsletter.

Today I wanted to show off this A/B test result which is pretty wild…

PS - this means nothing if you don’t apply the learning!

Context

For context, this is a more corporate-style brand with their audience being primarily people aged 40+.

This is a massive brand that does around $50M per year.

With brands at this size, they tend to be more stuck in their own ways.

This is why it’s helpful to get outside perspectives to come in and bring new ideas.

Which is exactly what we did…

A/B Test

Every Sunday, this brand sends a bestseller email.

They choose 3-5 products that performed well for the week and feature them in an email.

They use the same graphics and styles for every email.

What we wanted to test was a text-based bestsellers email vs a graphic based.

They thought it was crazy.

How would people know what the product is if they can’t see it?

Let’s look at the results…

A/B Test Results

A/B Test Results

Variation A:
Graphic Based Email

Variation B:
Text-Based Email

Insights

The text-based email swept the floor.

Higher open rates (no preview text in text-based emails)

42% higher clicks

50% higher revenue

People just love text-based emails, even if you’re a massive brand.

USE TEXT-BASED EMAILS

Did you miss the news yesterday?

I dropped the Mix & Match Template Builder email design product which comes with over 5,000+ full email design combinations.

And it comes with an invite to the first ever ecommerce email marketing community which is exclusive to those who buy.

79 people are already inside, asking questions, and getting feedback directly from me.

Been getting overwhelmingly positive feedback so far, appreciate you guys so much and glad you’re liking it! 🚀

Email Inspiration Of The Day

Brand:
Magic Spoon

Notes:
Very well executed text-based email.

No fluff, just listing all of the features of this new product.

It’s a bit long but in this case I think it works well.

Use their template!

Reply to this email if you have any questions or further content you want covered.

Cheers,

Max
