Abandoned Cart Flow Hacks
The Inbox Newsletter
Hey it’s Max from The Inbox Newsletter.
I want to pack a couple quick tips in your abandoned cart / abandoned checkout flows to make you some more money…
Let’s do it.
Hack #1: Include Your Welcome Offer for Non-Buyers
Most stores offer 10% OFF or something similar for first time buyers.
If someone hasn’t bought before and abandoned their cart, why not remind them of their welcome offer?
This will help with conversions immensely.
Add a conditional split at the top of your flow logic and split based on if someone has bought before or not.
For those who have bought from you before, send them regular abandoned cart emails.
For those who haven’t bought from you before, include a simple line of text in all of your emails that reminds them of the first order discount.
Hack #2: Let People Know If They Have Free Shipping
Most stores offer free shipping on orders over a threshold, such as $100.
You can add a trigger split in Klaviyo for the value of someone’s cart.
For people who have a value over $100, you can just simply let them know that they have free shipping.
For those below the threshold, let them know where the threshold is and how they can unlock free shipping.
BONUS - You can even stack the first two hacks together… if someone has never bought before AND their cart value is over $100, you can tell them about the welcome discount and that they have free shipping.
Hack #3: Only Offer Discounts To Non-Buyers
If you’re tight on margins, you don’t need to give everybody a discount on their cart.
I recommend only offering discounts towards the end of your flow to save on margins. Rather than offering a discount email 1, offer it on email 3 or later.
This way you can try to convert someone without a discount.
You can take it a step further and only offer the discount to specific people, like people who haven’t purchased before.
Simply add a conditional split (just like Hack #1) and split based on if someone has bought before.
Then create your emails with discounts and without based on if they have bought before.
This isn’t necessary, but it will help you save on margins.

Notes:
Something important to keep in mind with your emails is that you need to put your offer way up high at the top of the email.
This way the customer doesn’t have to scroll on the email… right in their face is the offer which can get them to purchase.
Use this email as an outline!
