Abandoned Cart Emails đź›’

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it’s Max from The Inbox Newsletter.

I got a solid abandoned cart email today, so I’m making an email about how you should make your abandoned cart emails.

Let’s get into it.

Philosophy

You don’t need to go crazy on abandoned cart emails.

If you included 0 content in your email except showed the exact item the customer added to their cart, you’d still get good conversions.

The fact of you being their at the right time promoting the product they left will carry the load.

Anything too much will distract the customer and harm conversions.

Hero Section

We want our hero section to have a few things accounted for…

  • Address the abandonment

  • Have a clear button as high up in the email as possible

  • Be short in length

First is obvious, have a quick piece of copy addressing abandonment.

It’s KEY to also have a button in your hero to “Finish My Order”.

This way the customer doesn’t need to scroll in the email to purchase.

Then, we also want it to be short in length so that the customer can easily go to the dynamic abandonment section which should be in the email.

Dynamic Cart Section

This is the most important part of the email…

This is the section that will change person to person and show the items they left behind.

It’s important you get this right!

Graphic

It’s a good idea to also include a graphic of some type educating the customer on your product and why it is so awesome.

Make it clean, quick, and easy to read.

Testimonials / Social Proof

Every abandoned cart email should have at least one section focused on social proof, testimonials, or risk reversals.

Just throw in some testimonials and you’re good to go!

Example Email That Checks All These Boxes

Only thing I would add is more info on the product abandoned in the dynamic block. Name of the product, quantity, and price (test including vs excluding).

Testimonial Section #7

Neat and creative testimonial section that you can use for your abandoned cart emails!
