The 2 Things Your Product Sections Need
The Inbox Newsletter
Hey, it’s Max with The Inbox.
Today, we’re talking again about design (it’s that important!).
Specifically, how to make sure your product sections are optimized.
Also… big news in this email 👀
Product Sections
The product section of your email is quite literally the section of your email the products.
Usually, it is at the bottom of your emails.
Many brands will do things like a 2×4 or a 3×3 product grid when showing a few products.
Or maybe even just stacking 3-4 products on top of each other.
There are many different layouts you can use.
And they will all work as long as you include these 2 features…
Individual Calls to Action
Nothing grinds my gears more than seeing an email that doesn’t make it clear that you can click directly on a product to buy it now.
We must always assume our customer has an IQ of 27.
When they’re in zombie mode scrolling their inbox, they don’t have the capacity to think.
They’re on autopilot using their lizard brain.
We must lay everything our for them on a silver platter.
Every product you list MUST have a clear, individual call to action to let their lizard brain know they can go check out the item now.
Couple ways to do it:
Typical rectangular call to actions saying “Shop Now”
No rectangle, but underlining Shop Now » (like that ←)
Underlining the product name (Ex. Black Hoodie)
Bonus if you turn it blue to show it’s linked (Ex. Black Hoodie)
Make it clear that they can click right on your product, this will guaranteed improve your click rates
Finish Your Product Sections With A General CTA
Let’s say your store has 20 products.
And in one of your emails, you use a 2×3 product grid that shows 6 products.
What about your remaining 14?
By not including a general CTA after your product section, you deny people the option to continue shopping.
They’re forced to click one of the 6 products you listed.
If they’re not interested, they won’t go to your site.
However, if you include a bottom button you give people the opportunity to keep shopping.
Maybe they’re interested, but none of the products you listed called their name.
Every product section should end with a large button that says something to the tune of “SHOP ALL”.
Another super easy way to boost click rates tomorrow.
